TrikeFest FAQ
TrikeFest is the largest gathering of offroad 3 wheelers and 3 wheeler enthusiasts in the world! This year will be the 25th anniversary of TrikeFest and possibly the largest turnout to date. Usual events will take place again this year such as circle track racing, drag racing, mud bounty holes, and the fan favorite Herk N Jerk! along with some newer events like the slow wheelie contest and blindfold race, but keep your eyes open for random or spur of the moment events, like a food truck, live band, or mobile karaoke.
TrikeFest takes place every year the same weekend, the weekend after Father’s Day. It happens At Haspin Acres Off-road Park in Laurel, Indiana. Activities start Wednesday after Father’s Day, and conclude Saturday evening with the awards ceremony. Most people arrive sometime during the week and leave Sunday.
FAQ
-Camping or Lodging availability
Haspin has vast areas for camping, RV’s, and trucks & trailers in a few different areas of the park. There are no utilities available for hookup, no reserved spots, and no reservations ahead of time. They do not have onsite black water dumping stations, tho garbage is picked up daily. A water filling spigot is available so bring a water dolly for your camper. There are no hotels or motels available less than a half hour from the park, and the few AirBnB’s there are are normally booked out a year or so in advance.
-How do I buy a ticket and reserve my spot? How much does it cost?
Any “trikefest” entity does not charge to participate in any of the event. But because it is hosted at Haspin Acres, you MUST buy a ride/camping pass for the park. These passes are bought in person at the park, they do not sell out, and cannot be bought ahead of time. Their ride pass per person covers camping and what ever toys you brought to ride. Prices are in a tiered system, $25 the first day, $20 the second day, $15 the third and every consecutive day after. Veterans get 1/2 off with ID.
Ex- if you were staying wed-sun, it would be $90 plus their one time lifetime liability card for $5. Keep this card for next year so you don’t have to pay the $5 fee next year. See their website for more info. It is recommended to print and complete their liability forms ahead of time and bring them with you.
-can I bring my kids?
Of course! TrikeFest is a family friendly event. While the events themselves may get action packed, the atmosphere is family friendly, and encouraged! Most events have youth classes for them to participate in! And they even get a discounted park admission!
-my buddy wants to come but he doesn’t have a 3 wheeler, is he still invited?
Absolutely! While events are limited to only three wheeled participants, any vehicle is allowed to operate in the park.
-Can I bring a machine or parts to sell?
Of course! Some people set out their parts like a flea market, some coordinate ahead of time for what others want, and you’ll even see a few vendors from around the web there selling their products at a discount. And being that three wheelers and vintage powersports go hand in hand, you’ll probably find other vintage powersports items for sale too.
-is their food available there?
Yes! Haspin has a concession style kitchen service burgers, dogs, breakfast sandwiches, drinks and a seating area open daily, and they even extend the hours for the TrikeFest crowd! Best part is it’s all air conditioned! Or head into town and support The Long Branch Tavern for some light food and a drink. They love us! Turtles Laurel Hotel offers sit down dining, and a pizza and taco place is in town also.
-Where can I buy groceries and drinks?
The town of Laurel has two family ran gas stations with a small selection of deli, grocery, drinks, and necessities available. Both are a few minutes from the park. There is also a beer and liquor store in town too. Note that if trying to buy in bulk for the weekend, it’s best to stock up ahead of time as there are no actual grocery stores. Closest town is Connorsville, about a 1/2hr drive away.
-Are there showers and some place to wash my machines?
YES! There are both male and female bath houses located in the same building as ticketing and the kitchen. These are open daily and free.
Haspin recently installed a pressure washing station also! Bring your quarters and dollars bills though, because it’s gotta pay for itself somehow.
-Do I need riding gear to participate?
Helmets are REQUIRED anytime any vehicle is moving (except vehicles with roll cages and safety harnesses)
Must be actual helmets with a strap secured, hard hats or unbuckled helmets are not permitted.
Full face helmets and more protective riding gear is highly recommended, especially when participating in any racing.
Most people wear half faced motorcycle helmets while socializing and frolicking from camp to camp because it gets hot.
-When and where can I ride, are trails marked?
Firstly, there is ABSOLUTELY NO NIGHT RIDING!! Besides that, riding is sun up to sun down inside the park. There are a few main trails that are clearly marked, with many side trails on and off the mains. The entirety of the park is open to riding (outside of the camping area) but some areas are roped off to protect environmental concerns.
-Can I ride into town?
There is a town riding pass available for $30 CASH from The Long Branch Tavern. This is set up through the local police and allows you to ride a designated route into town to the gas station, beer store, and restaurants/taverns. Riding a machine into town without this pass will result in your vehicle getting impounded and you getting a ticket. Must be 18yo+ to purchase a town pass.
-My buddies are coming in a day after me, can I save them a spot?
Sure can, but be respectful. Don’t be that guy that ropes off a huge area for two trucks and a tent.
